IBM set out on a long and expensive journey of research to develop the ultimate keyboard design - and succeeded. Nothing made before or since quite measures up to the undisputed king of keyboards... the F Type - and it's slightly younger sibling... the M Type.
This video is a short and nerdy explanation of how they came about from their already legendary Beam Spring patent, along with some simple practical clicky-klacky demonstrations, and some notes about how you can use buy and one today.
This video does show some archival footage from The Internet Archive, including a few clips from The Computer Chronicles. I've reproduced them for historical purposes only, and I believe them to be public domain under "Fair Use" policy. Also presented are a few photos from online wiki repositories of System/32 computers and Beam Spring keyboards.
